Living and Working at Braziers

Braziers is home to about twenty people, many of whom work full-time or part-time within Braziers. Others work mainly outside Braziers, or are fully retired. There are also several younger residents, attending school or college. About half the residents live communally in the main building, alongside volunteers from overseas who spend up to three months here working for their keep and participating in the life of the community. At any one time, there are likely to be between four and six such volunteers.

Household, Kitchen, Office, Grounds and other areas of work each have a longer-term resident as main organizer, with support and input from others according to need and enthusiasm. At a meeting at 9am each day, much of the day's work is allocated: often cooking cleaning and gardening dominate, as well as various meetings and maintenance- and office- tasks.
